Choosing a Solar Pump Inverter: Veichi SI23, Veichi SI21 and Slanvert Hope65

Slanvert Hope65 Solar pump inverter

Veichi SI23, Veichi SI21 and Slanvert Hope65 Solar are solar pump drive families. The right choice starts with the pump motor, water duty and PV array, rather than the brand or the kW value alone.

Family Where to Start Important Selection Checks
Veichi SI23 Solar pumping with a compatible motor and the required control options. Complete D3, D5 or T3 model designation; voltage class; rated output current; PV limits; permitted AC backup arrangement.
Veichi SI21 Compact solar pumping applications where the selected model meets the duty. Exact voltage version and manual revision; output current; pump protection and required communications equipment.
Slanvert Hope65 Solar Solar pumping with a compatible motor and model-specific protection and control functions. Complete SP/SPD designation and revision; recommended Vmp and Voc; maximum DC input; motor rating; required I/O.

The catalogue lists selected models from each family. Available sizes and supplied revisions can change. A family name does not establish the voltage limits or accessories of a particular unit.

Start With the Motor Nameplate

Check motor kW, winding voltage, phase, full-load current and motor type. The drive must provide sufficient continuous output current after any applicable derating. Confirm that its control method suits the motor, particularly when comparing induction and permanent-magnet motors.

Understand the PV Voltage Specifications

Working voltage, MPPT operating range, recommended open-circuit voltage and absolute maximum input voltage are different specifications. The array must satisfy all applicable limits; do not select a string count from a voltage range in the product title.

  • Hot-panel Vmp: check that the operating voltage remains sufficient for the drive and required motor output.
  • Cold-corrected Voc: check that the string cannot exceed the absolute maximum input, including panel tolerances.
  • Array current and power: check permitted parallel strings and PV input capacity.

Why the Complete Model Matters

Veichi documentation distinguishes SI23 voltage versions, including D5 and T3 configurations. SI21 specifications must likewise be matched to the ordered voltage version. Published family pages and manuals can describe different revisions or contain conflicting figures. Resolve any discrepancy using the documentation and written confirmation for the actual supplied unit.

Slanvert's current Hope65-SPD product information distinguishes recommended operating voltage (Vmp), recommended open-circuit voltage (Voc) and maximum DC input. Those figures must not be combined into one universal input window or automatically applied to an older SP listing.

Solar Only or AC Backup?

Confirm whether the exact unit supports PV only, an alternative AC supply, automatic transfer or concurrent AC/PV operation. These are separate capabilities. Identify any required switching equipment, interlocks and generator requirements before ordering.

Protection and Control

Check dry-run detection, tank-full inputs, low-speed behaviour, restart delays and motor protection. Available functions still need suitable settings and, where required, external sensors. A built-in pump function does not remove the need to assess local protection.

Communications and Accessories

Confirm the communication protocol, available registers and required controller, gateway or monitoring module. An RS-485 port alone is not a complete remote monitoring system. Confirm whether any I/O, communications cards, sensors or software are included in the quotation.

Installation Conditions

Check ambient temperature, altitude, enclosure ventilation and ingress protection. For boreholes, include motor-cable length, output filtering requirements and submersible-motor cooling limits. The drive's maximum output-frequency specification is not permission to run a pump above its rated speed.

A Practical Planning Checklist

  • Clear motor and existing drive nameplate photographs
  • Motor kW, full-load current, voltage, phase and motor type
  • Required daily water volume, flow and total head
  • Borehole yield and dynamic water level where applicable
  • PV panel datasheet, quantity and proposed string arrangement
  • Site location and design temperature conditions
  • Solar-only or AC backup requirement
  • Motor-cable length and enclosure conditions
  • Level control, communications and monitoring requirements

Technical Note

This guide provides general selection guidance. Final pump selection, PV design, electrical protection, motor connection, programming and installation must be verified against the exact equipment documentation and site requirements.

Technical Resources

Use the documentation for the exact supplied model and revision. Family documents can cover ratings and options that do not apply to every unit.
